Interim Pastor

Pastor Rachel Haxtema, Interim Pastor

​Rev. Rachel Haxtema has served faith communities in Lutheran, Presbyterian and United Church of Christ settings including a recent year at Holden Village in the North Cascades. Rachel lives in Tacoma with her family and spent most of her life in the Puget Sound region. She worked for 10 years at Pacific Lutheran University in community partnerships and also taught Christian Ethics as adjunct professor in the Religion department.

Rachel’s broad ecumenical, non-profit and education experience along with training in consensus building and community development has led her to the crucial work of interim ministry. Work experience beyond PLU and Holden Village include environmental non-profits, churches in Seattle, Tacoma, and Corvallis, Oregon and ecumenical organizations including Sojourners, Washington DC and World Council of Churches, Geneva, Switzerland. She has a Bachelor degree from Calvin College, M.Div. from San Francisco Theological Seminary and M.A. in Social Theory and Ethics from the Graduate Theological Union.

Tony Willing, Church Musician

Tony Willing serves as Calvary's Church Musician. With decades of experience, Tony is proficient in multiple instruments, his favorite being the Organ here at Calvary. Tony composes many of the pieces featured during Worship and leads the Deeper Life Band which plays at the 11:15 a.m. Worship.

Kari Stone, Office Administrator

Kari Stone is delighted to serve the Calvary community as the Office Administrator. She brings a background of Accounting,
Facilities Management, Education, and Horticulture. Kari grew up in the Lutheran church and treasures its worship, liturgy, hymns and traditions. She hopes to be a helpful resource for anyone who needs assistance with our online resources, church ministries, and worship services.
