Adult Learning & Fellowship

Adult Learning (Faith Development)
One of Calvary’s values is that each of us continues to grow in our faith. In addition to weekly worship services, Calvary offers many opportunities to grow in your faith. Studying the Bible, applying lessons to daily life, exploring Christian writings, and learning through discussion with others are great ways in which to grow. Regardless of your age or your familiarity with the Bible, you will find a welcoming, learning environment at Calvary.

Adult Forum - Sundays after 9:00am Worship
Adult Forum resumes May 4th– Faith/Land Listening Session (Continued) This session will focus on listening to and engaging with feedback from our congregation. One comment we've heard: "We’d love to hear some success stories!" In response, we’ll take a look at the inspiring example of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Seattle, who documented their faith-based redevelopment journey in a short film. Come be part of the conversation as we learn, listen, and imagine together what faithful land stewardship can look like for our community.
Jesus’ final days were full of risk. Every move he made was filled with anticipation, danger, and the potential for great loss or great reward. Jesus risked his reputation when he entered Jerusalem in a victory parade. He risked his life when he dared to teach in the Temple. His followers risked everything when they left behind their homes, or anointed him with costly perfume. We take risks as we read and re-read these stories, finding new meanings and new challenges.
In Entering the Passion of Jesus: A Beginner’s Guide to Holy Week, author, professor, and biblical scholar Amy-Jill Levine explores the biblical texts surrounding the Passion story. She shows us how the text raises ethical and spiritual questions for the reader today, and how we all face risk in our Christian experience.
Week 3 - Teachings: Risking Challenge
Week 4 - The First Dinner: Risking Rejection
Week 5 - The Last Supper: Risking the Loss of Friends
Week 6 - Gethsemane: Risking Temptation
